Riverchase Library Home

My name is Jennifer Rich. I helped open Riverchase Elementary School Library in the 2004-2005 school year. I earned my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education Language Arts at The University of Alabama in 1992. After college I taught English for a semester in Moscow, Russia. I then returned and taught high school English classes for six years. In 1999, I earned my Master's degree in Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama. Before coming to RES, I worked at Brookwood Forest Elementary as a librarian and reading coach.

My husband, Eddie, is a real estate agent and we have one son, Bryant who is in high school. My mom, Anita, lives nearby and volunteers in our library regularly. Our family enjoys attending church activities at Hunter Street Baptist Church, watching Alabama football, baseball, and hockey, and traveling to places like Turks and Caicos, Alaska, Hawaii, and Montana. Reading and scrapbooking are the other activities I enjoy in my free time.

At school I love working in the library helping students find just right books, making books come alive for the students, teaching coding and other technology skills, and connecting with teachers and staff to find the resources to support student learning.  With help from the enrichment team, I have the pleasure of working with 4th and 5th grade students on the HAWK TV broadcast crew each morning.

I hope to see you often in the library!
